Member Rights and Responsibilities

OBH is committed to ensuring that all members are educated and understand that they have the following rights and responsibilities in regards to their behavioral health care benefits.

All members have the following rights:

The right to receive information about OBH's services and providers, clinical guidelines, and members' rights and responsibilities.

The right to be treated with respect and recognition of their dignity and right to privacy.

The right to participate with providers in decision-making regarding their treatment planning.

The right to a candid discussion of appropriate or medically necessary treatment options for their behavioral medical conditions, regardless of cost or benefit coverage.

The right to voice complaints or appeals about the decisions made by OBH or the care provided by participating OBH licensed clinicians.

All members have the following responsibilities:

The responsibility to provide, to the extent possible, information to OBH and its providers and licensed clinicians which is needed to provide behavioral care and treatment to them.

The responsibility to participate, to the degree possible, in understanding their behavioral health problems and developing a mutually agreed upon plan of care and treatment goals with the OBH licensed clinician(s).

The responsibility to follow the treatment plan recommendations and interventions that are agreed upon between the member and the OBH licensed clinician(s).

All members are given the opportunity to make recommendations to OBH regarding OBH's members rights and responsibilities.

Ultimate responsibility for members' rights and responsibilities remains with the health plan.
