What is Employee Assistance Program(EAP)? At times we all have day-to-day problems in both our work and personal lives and sometimes we need help dealing with these concerns. Optima EAP offers comprehensive evaluation, intervention and education services designed to help employees and their dependent family members successfully resolve a variety of issues that can impact life and workplace happiness.
Why should I offer an EAP to my employees? Research shows that: For every dollar an organization invests in an EAP, employers generally save anywhere from $5 to $16. (Source: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) A well run EAP can generate up to the following savings for employers: (Source: SA in MH Services, 1995) * 33% less use of sick time * 65% reduction in workplace accidents * 30% reduction in workers compensation claims * 40% reduction in lost time * 50% reduction in grievances * 74% reduction in supervisor reprimands * 35% reduction in turnover * 14% increase in productivity
Will I be told if my employees go to the EAP? Confidentiality is very important to us. If your employee seeks help on a voluntary basis, no one else will know they are being seen at Optima EAP. If you, or on of your managers refers them to the EAP as a formal or mandatory referral, they will be asked to sign a specific release of information to allow the EAP counselor to notify the supervisor that they attended the session and if they are following program recommendations.
Does the EAP provide support to supervisors who need help with employee problems or who request assistance with performance problems? Optima EAP includes Manager Assistance. Our counselors will work collaboratively with managers, providing them with consultation, solutions and recommendations for helping to restore employee productivity. Supervisors can call Optima EAP to discuss employee performance concerns and to receive assistance in making a supervisory referral. This is a program that helps team coordinators, supervisors and managers in handling situations such as, referring a troubled employee to the EAP, conflict on the job with other managers or employees, problems with team functioning, consultation for managers, effective communication skills, conflict resolution skills, team building issues and personal or work-related problems.
